Freiburg, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted a pair of second-half goals on Saturday to lead Borussia Dortmund to a desperately-needed 3-0 win over Freiburg at the Mage Solar Stadion.
It's been a nightmare domestic campaign for Dortmund as the club entered Saturday's clash at the bottom of the table and coming off a disappointing 1-0 loss to 10-man Augsburg.
The club had gone five consecutive Bundesliga games without a win and was in desperate need of three points. Luckily for manager Jurgen Klopp, the team got off to a quick start as Marco Reus opened the scoring after nine minutes.
Dortmund took the one-goal lead into the break and seized firm control in the second half as Aubameyang found the back of the net three minutes before the hour mark and completed his double 18 minutes from time to seal a much-needed three points.
The win takes Dortmund to 19 points and off the bottom of the table, while Freiburg remains second from the bottom with 18 points.
Also in the German top flight on Saturday, second-place Wolfsburg pulled to within eight points of Bayern Munich for the league lead thanks to a 3-0 win over Hoffenheim.
Bas Dost got Wolfsburg off to a flying start with the opening salvo after three minutes and Kevin De Bruyne scored in the 28th and 84th minutes to wrap up the points.
Jens Hegeler and Roy Beerens found the back of the net to lead Hertha Berlin to a 2-0 win against Mainz, while defending champions Bayern Munich topped Stuttgart, 2-0, thanks to goals from Arjen Robben and David Alaba.
Cologne and Paderborn played to a scoreless draw, while the final fixture of the day saw Hamburg earn a 2-1 win over Hannover.
