Bill Amis had 22 points and 12 rebounds and Hawaii took control in the final 4 minutes to defeat Louisiana Tech 56-48 on Saturday night in a meeting of teams that came in winless in Western Athletic Conference play.

Amis broke a 46-46 tie by making 1 of 2 free throws with 3:47 remaining and the Warriors (11-8, 2-5) outscored the Bulldogs (9-10, 0-5) 10-2 down the stretch.

Hawaii led nearly the entire game. Amis' jumper put the Warriors ahead 40-35 with 12:11 to play, but 3-pointers by Kenyon McNeaill and Cordarius Johnson and a 2-point jumper by Tevin Hall gave Louisiana Tech a 43-40 lead.

The Bulldogs shot just 28.8 percent (17 of 59) in the game but benefited by making 10 steals to three for Hawaii.

McNeaill and Johnson scored 11 points each and J.L. Lewis had 10 rebounds to pace Louisiana Tech.

Vander Joaquim had nine points and 12 rebounds for the Warriors.
