Hyattsville, MD – A blood clot that reached his lungs caused the death of an Alabama State football recruit earlier this week.
DeMatha Catholic High School senior Richard "Rico" Webb, 17, died Sunday morning at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia. He had been admitted late Saturday after feeling ill.
Webb, a 6-foot-7, 365-pound offensive tackle, had signed a national letter of intent with Alabama State on Feb. 1.
A memorial service was held for Webb on Monday at DeMatha Catholic.
