With the prospects of immigration legislation passing this year becoming dubious, President Obama is hanging its success or failure on Republicans. Mr. Obama will take the stage at American University in Washington to talk about the changes he'd like to see in how the nation deals with illegal immigrants. He'll say he can't do it without the help of Republicans, but most aren't keen to jump on board Mr. Obama's plan.
Meanwhile, the feud between the President and Arizona Governor Jan Brewer over that state's tough, new immigration law has grown as the two can't even seem to agree on the resources needed to combat the problem.
The White House will also share the latest federal efforts in combating the oil spill in the Gulf when National Incident Commander Admiral Thad Allen joins in on the daily briefing.
