In the FOXlight: The Cast of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Are Confident That 'People Will Love It'

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away — or more accurately, just a few days ago at a press event in Hollywood — the cast of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" gathered together to preview the latest chapter of their sci-fi saga.

Lucky for us, FNC correspondent Michael Tammero was on hand to learn as much as he could about the highly anticipated sequel before its debut weekend.

"It is a seamless continuation of the 'Star Wars' saga," explains Lupita Nyong'o, who plays a character named Maz Kanata. "And I think the fan base is going to be very, very pleased with it."

"Its a generation tale," adds director J.J. Abrams. "While the original characters are critical, and the history is very important, this is a story about characters you haven't met before."

Speaking of characters you havent met before, English actor John Boyega tells Tammero that he's already thrilled to be part of the franchise. "And I'm not an extra!" he laughs. "I'm lead, dammit!" (Harrison Ford, however, thinks Boyega and his co-stars should be preparing themselves to enter the "Star Wars" canon: "For the younger members of the cast, that's going to be a significant change in their lives," he says.)

But after all is said and done, Nyong'o seems most excited to finally share the finished film with the fans. "Every single person's work shines through on that film," she says. "And I'm confident people will love it."

Watch the rest of the segment above for more from cast members Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver, and be sure to catch "The Force Awakens," in theaters everywhere on December 18th.
