Report: Hilary Duff Won't Appear in '90210' Remake

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Hilary Duff's camp has informed producers that the actress isn't interested in playing the modern-day "Brenda" in the "Beverly Hills, 90210" remake, Variety reported.

E! Online reported that producers of the CW's "Beverly Hills, 90210" remake had reached out to Duff to offer her a starring role in the series.

Duff reportedly would have played Annie Mills, a Beverly Hills High student who is into theater acting, just like Shannen Doherty's character, Brenda, was on the original show. She yearns to fit in with the alternative crowd and leans a lot on her adopted brother, Dixon.

Duff is best known for starring in the long-running Disney Channel show "Lizzie McGuire."

Shenae Grimes, a regular on "Degrassi: The Next Generation," has landed the role of Annie, according to Variety.

Lori Loughlin, best known for "Full House," is set to play Celia Mills, mom of Annie, Variety says.
