FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A jury has convicted Anthony "Little Tony" Ferrari in the mob-style 2001 shooting death of a prominent South Florida businessman.
The jury found Ferrari guilty of murder and murder conspiracy Friday in the death penalty case. They deliberated a little over seven hours.
Ferrari was accused along with Anthony "Big Tony" Moscatiello of orchestrating the slaying of former SunCruz Casinos owner Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis. Prosecutors said Boulis was killed in power struggle over the lucrative gambling ships.
Both men denied any involvement in the killing. Moscatiello was granted a mistrial when his attorney became ill. He will be tried again later.
Witnesses testified that Moscatiello was a captain in New York's Gambino organized crime family and that Ferrari claimed to be the family's South Florida chief.
