Car slams into bus bench, 1 dead and 3 injured
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – San Diego police say one person is dead and three are injured after a woman crashed her car into a San Diego bus bench.
Officer David Stafford says the 70-year-old driver veered onto the sidewalk shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday and hit the bench where a man, a woman and a 10-year-old boy were sitting.
Stafford says the 25-year-old woman died after being rushed to a hospital. The 28-year-old man was being treated for several broken bones and internal injuries, the boy suffered a broken arm and lacerations, and the driver sustained minor injuries.
The was no immediate word on what caused the crash on University Avenue.
Police say the driver hasn't been cited for any infractions pending the outcome of an investigation.
