An arrest warrant has been issued for a suburban New York man who admitted helping fake his father's disappearance from Jones Beach in an insurance scam.

A spokesman for the Nassau County district attorney confirmed Tuesday that Jonathan Roth failed to appear at his scheduled sentencing last Friday.

Roth pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy. He had been expected to receive no jail time because he assisted prosecutors in the case against his father, Raymond.

Raymond Roth admitted he faked his own death and was expected to get a 90-day jail sentence, but was later arrested on attempted kidnapping charges.

Jonathan Roth's attorney says he doesn't know where his client is. He said he hopes his failure to appear was a scheduling error.
