NEW YORK – Stocks are rising in early trading on Wall Street, snapping a three-day losing streak.
The Dow Jones industrial average gained 118 points, or 0.7 percent, to 18,173 as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time Thursday.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 12 points, or 0.6 percent, 2,110. The Nasdaq composite climbed 33 points, or 0.7 percent, to 5,031.
Technology and materials companies posted the biggest gains.
Retailer Kohl's plunged 9 percent, the most in the S&P 500 index, after its revenue and a key sales measure fell short of Wall Street forecasts.
Crude oil edged down five cents to $60.46 a barrel in New York.
Bond prices rose. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note fell to 2.26 percent.
