The New York Yankees have announced that pitcher Andy Pettitte will start on Tuesday, Sept. 18 against the Toronto Blue Jays.

It will be the left-hander's first appearance since June 27, when Cleveland Indians first baseman Casey Kotchman hit a line drive off Pettitte's ankle.

The 40-year-old suffered a fractured left ankle on the play and the Yankees placed him on the 60-day disabled list two days later.

After calling it quits following the 2010 season, Pettitte announced in spring training of this year that he would be returning to the Yankees.

He made his season debut on May 13, and in nine starts this season, Pettitte is 3-3 with a 3.22 earned run average and 59 strikeouts.
