London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Tottenham announced Wednesday that the club has reached an agreement to sign United States international DeAndre Yedlin from Seattle Sounders FC.

The 21-year-old defender signed a four-year deal with the Premier League outfit after garnering a great deal of interest from a host of international clubs following his stout performances at this summer's World Cup where he made three appearances as a substitute for the United States.

"I'm very excited to come to the Premier League and challenge myself against some of the best players in the world," Yedlin said, according to the club's official Twitter account. "The facilities are the best in Europe, if not the world. It's a great team. I'm very excited."

Yedlin will remain with the Sounders on loan for at least the remainder of the MLS season. He is expected to join Spurs in preparation for the 2015-16 Premier League season.
