Tissot scores late to help Montreal draw Chicago

Bridgeview, IL – Mike Magee netted a brace but it wasn't enough to give the Chicago Fire the win as the Montreal Impact's Maxim Tissot scored late to see the two sides split the points in a 2-2 draw at Toyota Park on Saturday.

Marco Di Vaio has given Montreal the lead in the 25th minute when he collected a splitting pass from Davy Arnaud and poked a shot past Sean Johnson.

The Impact held the lead until the 57th minute when Alex's deflected shot fell kindly for Magee, who needed just a poke to take it past Troy Perkins.

Chicago's go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute was equal parts of hard work from Magee and misfortune from Perkins. The Impact goalkeeper endured a moment of madness as he attempted to elude Magee on the dribble, but fumbled over the ball in the process. Magee capitalized by pouncing on the loose ball to slot the ball into the empty net. There was hint of a shirt-pull from Magee, but the goal was allowed to stand.

The Fire had a tremendous opportunity to extend their lead when they were awarded a penalty kick just six minutes later. Patrick Nyarko garnered the penalty when he was tripped up by Perkins' outstretched arm, but Magee was unable to convert the ensuing attempt as he rattled his effort off the crossbar.

Chicago appeared to be in control of the match, but a poor bit of play out of the back granted visiting Montreal a share of the spoils as a failed clearance was nodded home by Tissot for his first MLS goal.

Montreal is winless in its last three games but retains third place in the Eastern Conference with 46 points.

Chicago improves to 40 points to maintain seventh place in the East.
