DETROIT (Reuters) - The Detroit Tigers have extended manager Jim Leyland's contract through the 2012 season and given general manager David Dombrowski a four-year extension, the American League Central Division leaders said on Monday.

Leyland is in his sixth season as the manager of the Tigers, compiling a 485-442 record. He has been a Major League manager for 20 years.

"We're delighted Jim will continue as Tigers' manager," Dombrowski said in a statement. "He has led the Tigers to a World Series and guided a contending team on a consistent basis."

Dombrowski's new deal will keep him under contract through 2015. He became the club's president and chief executive officer in 2001 and added the role of general manager a year later.
