The Phoenix Mercury signed guard Diana Taurasi year contract extensions on Monday.

Taurasi tied Atlanta's Angel McCoughtry for the league lead in scoring, averaging 21.6 points per game. The 2009 WNBA MVP, Taurasi also averaged 3.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds this season.

Taylor averaged 16.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals in 2011.

"Diana and Penny have been the face of this franchise for eight years and we look forward to that remaining true for years to come," said Phoenix president/GM Ann Meyers Drysdale. "Their loyalty to this franchise and commitment to excellence on the court has taken us to elite status in the WNBA. Their incredible accomplishments, personality and professionalism have made them two of the most recognizable and respected players in the league."

The Mercury finished the regular season with a 19-15 record and will begin their quest for a third title since 2007 on Thursday, when they visit the defending champion Seattle Storm in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.
