San Sebastian, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - David Zurutuza scored on either side of the intermission and Real Sociedad ripped off four unanswered goals to stun Real Madrid, 4-2, on Sunday at the Anoeta.
Real Madrid raced out to a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale after just 11 minutes.
But the deficit didn't seem to bother the hosts, as Inigo Martinez pulled his side within one with a tally in the 35th minute. Zurutuza then fired home the equalizer as the clubs went into the intermission on level terms.
Sociedad then took control of the match in the second half as Zurutuza bagged his second goal of the day and Carlos Vela sealed the unlikely three points with a fourth goal 15 minutes from time.
The result allows Sociedad to claim its first three points of the season, while Real Madrid suffers its first defeat of the La Liga campaign after earning a 2-0 win over newly-promoted side Cordoba last week.
Also in La Liga on Sunday, Deportivo and Rayo Vallecano played to a 2-2 stalemate at the Riazor.
Jose Rodriguez opened the scoring for Deportivo after seven minutes, but Alberto Bueno equalized for Vallecano five minutes before the break.
Bueno netted his second of the day in the 73rd minute to give his side the lead, but Isaac Cuenca converted a penalty kick in stoppage time to rescue a point for Deportivo.
Sandro Ramirez netted the only goal of the contest eight minutes from time to lift Barcelona to a 1-0 victory over Villarreal at the El Madrigal.
In Sunday's final La Liga fixture, Fran Rico and David Lomban traded goals as Elche and Granada played to a 1-1 draw at the Martinez Valero.
