Gelsenkirchen, Germany – Schalke goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall suffered a shoulder injury Sunday, and the Bundesliga club will likely have to turn to Timo Hildebrand in upcoming matches.
Unnerstall, who was filling in for injured No. 1 Ralf Fahrmann, picked up the injury following a first-half collision with Wolfsburg's Mario Mandzukic.
Hildebrand replaced Unnerstall at halftime of Schalke's 4-0 win, and now could be between the pipes Thursday for the second game of the Royal Blues' round of 32 Europa League series against Viktoria Plzen.
Schalke tied Viktoria Plzen, 1-1, in the first leg.
