Sochi, Russia (SportsNetwork.com) - Two-time Grand Slam champion Svetlana Kuznetsova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova gave the Russians a 2-0 lead over Germany in their Fed Cup semifinal on Saturday.
Kuznetsova defeated Julia Goerges 6-4, 6-4 in the first singles match and Pavlyuchenkova rallied for a 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory over Sabine Lisicki.
Kuznetsova became Russia's most successful Fed Cup player with her 27th win.
The hosts are one win away from the final against defending champion Czech Republic or France.
Germany lost in last year's final.
