The Kansas City Royals announced Monday that the team has signed infielder Hunter Dozier, the eighth overall pick in last week's First-Year Player Draft.

According to Baseball America. Dozier agreed to a $2.2 million signing bonus, nearly a million less than MLB's recommendation for the No. 8 slot. By doing so, the Royals will have more money to allot to other selections such as Indiana State pitcher Sean Manaea, whom Kansas City chose with its competitive balance pick at No. 34 overall.

Dozier, a 21-year-old from Stephen F. Austin State, batted .396 with 17 home runs and 52 RBI as a junior with the Lumberjacks. His .755 slugging percentage ranked third in NCAA Division I entering this past weekend's Super Regionals.
