The New England Revolution climbed into the playoff picture in emphatic fashion on Sunday, thrashing the Philadelphia Union, 5-1, at Gillette Stadium.

New England opened the scoring 20 minutes into the affair when Kelyn Rowe fired a low shot past Zac MacMath from distance.

Philadelphia managed to pull one back five minutes into the second half when Danny Cruz collected a pass from Conor Casey, went around Matt Reis and slipped a shot into the back of the empty net.

But the Revs ran away with the match from that point on, exploding for four goals in the span of 15 minutes.

The go-ahead goal came in the 58th minute when Juan Agudelo's shot was turned into the net by Union defender Amobi Okugo.

Rowe then completed his brace in the 65th minute with undoubtedly the goal of the match as the Revolution midfielder uncorked a blast that nestled into the upper corner from 30 yards out.

Diego Fagundez struck in the 71st minute with New England's fourth and Agudelo wrapped up the affair two minutes later to complete the rout.

The win sees New England (10-9-6) move into a tie with the Houston Dynamo for fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 36 points apiece, two points shy of fourth-place Philadelphia (10-8-8).
