The NCAA has reportedly eliminated the remainder of Penn State's football postseason ban as punishment for the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal, while restoring the program to a full scholarship limit beginning with the 2015-16 season.
According to ESPN, the NCAA agreed to make the Nittany Lions eligible for a bowl berth for this season upon recommendations from former U.S. Senator George Mitchell, who has been acting as the university's athletics oversight monitor.
Penn State had initially agreed to a four-year postseason ban, as well as a reduction in scholarships, for its role in the Sandusky case. The ban had been scheduled to run through the 2015 season.
