Lisbon, Portugal – FC Porto climbed back to the top of the Portuguese Liga on Friday after claiming a 1-0 win over Guimaraes.
Coming off its first dropped points of the season following a 2-2 draw with Estoril, FC Porto struggled to generate quality chances over a scoreless first 45 minutes, but earned the game's only goal five minutes after the break when Josue was able to convert a penalty kick to put his team in front.
Guimaraes pushed for equalizer over the remainder of the second half, but was unable to produce anything of quality as FC Porto collected the three points.
The result sees Porto reclaim the top spot in the table with 16 points, while Guimaraes sits in 10th place with seven points through six matches.
Elsewhere in Portugal, Nacional cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory on Saturday over Rio Ave, while Academica and FC Arouca played to a scoreless draw.
Bebe scored the winning goal in the final minute of normal time to lift Pacos Ferreira to a thrilling 4-3 result against Maritimo, while Estoril claimed a 2-1 win over Olhanense.
Oscar Cardozo and Mourtala Diakite swapped first-half goals as Benfica and Belenenses played to a 1-1 stalemate. Also on Saturday, Cedric Soares tallied four minutes from time to propel Sporting Lisbon to a 2-1 win over 10-man Braga.
Monday's action saw Rafael De Souza strike for Setubal in the first minute of the match only to be answered by a Bruno Moraes goal four minutes later for Gil Vicente. Paulo Tavares put Setubal ahead in the 24th minute, but Joao Vilela equalized for Gil Vicente in the 59th as the sides finished level at 2-2.
