Baltimore, MD – Baltimore Orioles pitcher Randy Wolf has been diagnosed with a ligament tear in his left elbow and will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced on Wednesday.
Wolf did pitch five innings in Saturday's 9-6 Baltimore victory over Boston, but acknowledged discomfort in his elbow shortly afterward, and an MRI taken earlier this week revealed a tear of the ulnar collateral ligament.
The 36-year-old made two starts and five overall appearances for the Orioles after being signed by the club in late August, shortly following his release by the Milwaukee Brewers. In 30 games -- 26 starts -- between the two teams this season, Wolf compiled a 5-10 record with a 5.65 ERA.
Wolf received a no-decision in Saturday's outing and allowed three runs on seven hits over his five-inning stint.
To fill his place on the 40-man roster, the Orioles selected the contract of journeyman utility player Bill Hall from Triple-A Norfolk. The 32-year-old appeared in seven games with Baltimore earlier in the season before being outrighted to the minors in June.
