Baltimore, MD – The Baltimore Orioles placed infielder Wilson Betemit on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday, retroactive to August 12, with a right wrist injury.
Over 97 games this season, Betemit is batting .264 with 12 homers and 37 RBI.
To replace Betemit on the active roster the Orioles recalled infielder Joe Mahoney from Triple-A Norfolk.
Mahoney appeared in one game for Baltimore this season and went 0-for-3 in a July 7 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
In 117 games at Norfolk, Mahoney hit .263 with nine home runs and 53 RBI.
