Nice midfielder Kevin Anin has been seriously injured in a car accident, according to French newspaper L'Equipe.

It was reported that Anin suffered serious injuries when a car he was traveling in drove off the road in the early morning hours on Tuesday.

According to L'Equipe's report, the driver of the vehicle fell asleep at the wheel, although that claim has yet to be confirmed.

Anin sustained arm and spinal injuries in the crash and was placed in an induced coma at a hospital in France.

"In the light of the information currently in our possession, the situation seems quite serious. We are worried," Nice chief executive Julien Fournier told L'Equipe.

Anin joined Nice in January 2012 from Sochaux after signing a four-year contract.

The 26-year-old scored one goal in 13 Ligue 1 appearances this past season for Nice, which finished the season in fourth place to earn a Europa League spot.
