Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Kurumi Nara of Japan rallied past New Zealand's Marina Erakovic to reach the final at the Citi Open.
Nara rebounded from a disastrous start Saturday and claimed a 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 triumph to reach the second final of her career. Her first came back in February when she captured the Rio Open title.
It was all Erakovic early, as she won the first eight games of the match. Nara quickly turned the tables by winning three straight games and sent the match to a decisive third.
Erakovic again broke on top early by winning the first two games of the third set, but Nara won the next three, then broke for a 5-4 edge before holding serve to end the marathon.
Nara will play the winner of Saturday's second semifinal between Russians Ekaterina Makarova and Svetlana Kuznetsova in Sunday's final.
The winner of this U.S. Open Series tournament will collect $43,000.
