The San Jose Earthquakes announced on Wednesday that the club has signed forward Steven Lenhart to a contract extension, although terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lenhart compiled five goals and three assists in 14 games in his first season with the club last term, while scoring 13 goals with four assists during a three-year spell with the Columbus Crew.

"I thought Steven was great for us in the games he was available," said general manager of soccer operations John Doyle. "He was a big part of that six-game unbeaten streak we had and we're looking forward to having him paired up with Chris Wondolowski at the top of our attack in 2012."

San Jose also acquired midfielder Shea Salinas from Vancouver Whitecaps FC for allocation money on Wednesday.

Salinas spent the first two years of his MLS career with San Jose before moving on to play for the Philadelphia Union and then Vancouver last season.
