Salomon Kalou scored just before halftime and Lille rebounded from a Champions League thrashing against Bayern Munich with a 1-0 win over Brest on Saturday at the Grand Stade Lille Metropole.

Lille lost 6-1 at Bayern on Wednesday in the Champions League as it chances of a knockout berth were ended, but the club returned to form in Ligue 1 with its fourth win during a five-game unbeaten streak.

Despite having just one win in its first seven matches this season, Lille has turned its recent run into a surge up to sixth in the standings on 20 points - just two off the top and PSG.

Brest lost for the third time in its last four and sits 14th in the standings, but only nine points off the summit.

St Etienne 2, Troyes 0

Saint Etienne, France - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his eighth goal with just two minutes remaining in normal time to cap another win for St. Etienne, 2-0 over Troyes on Saturday at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

Renaud Cohade opened the scoring in the first minute of the second half, then Aubameyang capped the victory to move within two goals of PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the scoring lead in Ligue 1.

St Etienne has won four of its last five games during a league-best seven-game unbeaten streak, including a victory over PSG.

Troyes lost its seventh match of the season, as it remains just two points off the foot of the standings in 19th place.

Valenciennes 3, Bastia 2

Furiani, France - Foued Kadir and Mathieu Dossevi scored two minutes apart in the closing stages as Valenciennes edged Bastia, 3-2, on Saturday at the Stade Armand-Cesari in Ligue 1.

Kadir handed Valenciennes a first-half lead on the road, but Anthony Modeste leveled from the spot before half and Julian Palmieri put Bastia in front with just 17 minutes gone in the second half.

Kadir completed his brace in the 78th to tie the match and Dossevi followed in the 80th with the match-winner, giving Valenciennes its third win in its last four games.

Valenciennes is fourth in the table, just one point off the summit. Bastia has lost two straight games and sits in 13th place, but only eight points off the top.

Evian 2, Reims 1

Reims, France - Kevin Berigaud and Youssef Adnane scored as Evian snapped a three-game losing streak in Ligue 1 with a 2-1 win over Reims on Saturday at the Stade Auguste Delaune II.

Evian built a two-goal lead inside the hour mark, and an own goal was the only response from Reims. Evian secured its third win of the season, but sits just one point clear of the bottom three in 17th place.

Reims lost for the third time during a four-game winless run, and sits 10th in the standings and seven points off the summit.

Ajaccio 4, Toulouse 2

Toulouse, France - Chahir Belghazouani scored twice as Ajaccio beat Toulouse, 4-2, on Saturday at the Stade Municipal de Toulouse to end a four-game winless run.

Frederic Sammaritano and Chahir Belghazouani also scored for Ajaccio, which climbed to 12th place in the standings on 14 points. Toulouse lost its second straight, and sits in seventh place and three points off the top.
