Jordan Caroline had 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting and Southern Illinois beat Austin Peay 71-49 on Saturday night.

The Salukis (5-3) had an 18-point lead late in the first half before Chris Horton's tip-in for Austin Peay (2-6) at the buzzer cut the deficit to 41-25 at the break. Bola Olaniyan's free throw capped a 7-0 run early in the second that gave SIU a 53-30 lead. The Salukis led by as many as 25 and the Governors got no closer than 16 in the second.

Caroline had 11 points by halftime and finished with seven rebounds. Sean O'Brien chipped in with 11 points and eight boards.

Horton had 15 points and 13 rebounds for Austin Peay and Chris Freeman added 10 points.

Austin Peay was 2 of 18 from 3-point range and had 18 turnovers compared to the Salukis' seven.
