Iman Mobali scored a tiebreaking goal in the 84th minute as Iran rallied to defeat defending champion Iraq 2-1 Tuesday night in the opener for both nations at the Asian Cup.

Younis Mahmood put Iraq ahead with a header in the 13th minute, but Gholam Reza Rezai tied the score in the 41st minute. Mobali scored on a free kick after a foul by Samal Saeed.

North Korea and United Arab Emirates tied 0-0 in the day's other Group D game.
