Cleveland, OH – The Cleveland Indians recalled infielder/outfielder Matt LaPorta from Triple-A Columbus on Friday.
LaPorta has spent most of the season at Columbus where he has hit .264 with 19 doubles, 19 home runs and 62 RBI in 101 games. He played in three games for the Indians in early June.
Cleveland optioned pitcher Frank Herrmann to Columbus to make room for LaPorta.
