The Montreal Impact rose to the summit of the Eastern Conference on Saturday after posting a 5-0 thrashing of the Houston Dynamo at Saputo Stadium.

Coming off a 2-1 victory over D.C. United last week, the Impact continued their run of good form as Marco Di Vaio bagged a brace to take over the MLS Golden Boot lead with 16 tallies. Felipe, Jeb Brovsky and Andrea Pisanu also added goals as the Impact improved to 41 points from 24 matches.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Di Vaio scored off a nice feed from Justin Mapp and Felipe added a second goal just two minutes later.

Brovsky found the back of the net in the 59th minute following a corner kick and Di Vaio completed his brace 20 minutes from time when the Impact caught Houston on the counter-attack and Patrice Bernier slid a nice ball for Di Vaio to tap home.

Pisnau finished the rout with a goal in stoppage time as the Impact improved to 9-1-3 at home this season.

Houston put four shots on target, but rarely threatened Troy Perkins' goal as the result leaves them hanging on to the final playoff berth in the East on 36 points.
