Milan, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Mauro Icardi hit for a hat trick on Sunday as Inter Milan rolled to a 7-0 drubbing of Sassuolo at the San Siro.
Coming off a season-opening scoreless draw against Torino prior to the international break, Inter started quickly on Sunday as Icardi opened his goal scoring account after just four minutes.
The home side made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute through a goal from Mateo Kovacic and Icardi netted his second goal of the match on the half-hour mark to widen the margin even further.
Inter continued to pour it on as former Southampton man Dani Osvaldo got into the scoring mood in the 43rd minute and Icardi completed his hat trick in the 53rd minute.
Things got even worse for Sassuolo on the hour mark when Domenico Berardi was shown a straight red card, reducing the visitors to 10 men.
With the extra man, Inter continue to showoff the scoring prowess as Osvaldo finished a brace in the 73rd minute and Freddy Guarin completed the rout with his first goal of the Serie A season one minute later.
The result moves Inter to four points from the opening two matches, while Sassuolo is still looking for its first victory.
Also in Serie A on Sunday, Manolo Gabbiadini and Stefano Okaka Chuka scored to help Sampdoria claim a 2-0 win over Torino, while Atalanta came away with all three points in a 2-1 win over Cagliari.
Antonio Candreva, Marco Parolo and Stefano Mauri all found the back of the net in a 3-0 win for Lazio over newly-promoted Cesena, while Maxi Lopez's goal just after halftime handed Chievo a 1-0 win over Napoli.
Also, Fiorentina and Genoa played to a scoreless draw, while former PSG man Jeremy Menez netted a pair of goals to go with tallies from Giacomo Bonaventura, Keisuke Honda and Nigel de Jong as AC Milan hung on for three poins in a wild 5-4 win over Parma at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
