Sao Paulo, Brazil (SportsNetwork.com) - Third seed Marcel Granollers suffered a second-round upset, while fourth seed Juan Monaco moved into the quarterfinals at the Brasil Open tennis event.

Capable Slovak Martin Klizan doused the Spaniard Granollers 6-4, 6-3, while the former top-10 Argentine star Monaco held off Spain's Albert Ramos 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 7-5 at this clay court tournament.

Monaco's quarterfinal opponent on Friday will be Italian Paolo Lorenzi, who handled Brazilian qualifier Rogerio Dutra Silva 6-4, 6-3 on Day 4.

Klizan will next face Brazilian wild-card Thomaz Bellucci, who earned a hard- fought 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 6-3 decision over Austrian Andreas Haider-Maurer.

Bellucci was a runner-up at this tournament in 2009.
