Sochi, Russia (SportsNetwork.com) - The German Olympic Committee confirmed on Friday that biathlete Evi Sachenbacher failed a doping test at the Sochi Games.

The 33-year-old's A and B sample tested positive for methylhexanamine and she was subsequently sent home from the Olympics.

Sachenbacher was competing in her fourth Olympic Games, but went without a medal in five events. Her best finish was fourth in the women's 12.5-kilometer mass start and in the mixed relay.

The German Olympic Committee said on its website that Sachenbacher's positive test came after the mass start.

Sachenbacher has won five previous Olympic medals, including gold four years ago in the team free sprint and in the 4x5-km relay at the 2002 Games.
