ANAHEIM, Calif. – Teemu Selanne managed to make a stir on the first day of the Anaheim Ducks' training camp even after his retirement.
Coach Bruce Boudreau and Selanne's former teammates reacted with disappointment and chuckles Thursday after hearing about Selanne's fierce criticism of Boudreau in a new biography published in Finland.
Boudreau says he was disappointed to hear about Selanne's feelings toward him, but understood the former star's frustration.
Several media outlets obtained copies of the Finnish book and translated the passages criticizing Boudreau's decisions on playing time for Selanne, who felt betrayed by his dwindling role in his final season.
Selanne retired at 43 years old last summer following a 21-season NHL career spent mostly in Anaheim.
Selanne says he might have played another year if Boudreau wasn't the Ducks' coach.
