Oregon State defensive tackle Castro Masaniai has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of attempted coercion stemming from an altercation with his girlfriend in May.

Beavers coach Mike Riley suspended Masaniai for Oregon State's opener Sept. 3 against Sacramento State, but he was allowed to return to practice.

Masaniai was sentenced on Friday in Benton County Circuit Court. He will pay $1,100 in fines and fees, serve 18 months of probation and attend a domestic violence intervention program, which he has already started.

Masaniai was originally charged with second-degree kidnapping, attempted coercion, disorderly conduct, harassment and criminal mischief. All but the coercion charge were dropped during a closed hearing on Thursday.
