Greg Oden has signed his contract with the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat.

The deal was completed Wednesday. The former No. 1 overall pick has already spent a few days in South Florida taking his physical and working out some contract language.

Oden announced Friday that he was accepting Miami's offer that will pay him about $1 million this coming year and includes a player option for the 2014-15 season. He last played in the NBA on Dec. 5, 2009, sidelined since by a series of major knee problems.

Heat managing general partner Micky Arison announced the deal, posting a tweet to congratulate Oden and saying "the journey continues."
