Matt Dickey scored 20 points to lead North Carolina-Asheville to a 68-59 win over Gardner-Webb on Saturday for the Bulldogs' third straight victory.

John Williams added 13 points on 5-for-5 shooting from the field. He became the 25th UNC Asheville player to score 1,000 career points when he hit two free throws late in the first half, sparking a 7-0 run that gave UNC Asheville (9-8, 4-3 Big South Conference) a 32-25 halftime lead.

The Runnin' Bulldogs made it 60-56 with 1:01 left, but J.P. Primm hit two free throws for UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb missed three straight 3-point attempts on its next possession.

UNC Asheville outshot the Bulldogs from the field 55.8 percent (24 of 43) to 33.8 percent (22 of 65).

Gardner-Webb (6-13, 1-6), which has lost nine straight, was led by Luke Engelken with 13 points and Mike Byron with 11 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
