Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias is the latest member of the team and player in the NHL to be suffering from the mumps.

The Star-Ledger reported Friday, shortly after the club announced that coach Peter DeBoer was fired, that Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello confirmed Elias missed Tuesday's loss to the Hurricanes with the mumps.

The paper reported that Martin Havlat, who also missed that game due to illness, does not have mumps.

Elias, the 38-year-old who has spent his entire 19-year career with the franchise, has totaled just four goals and nine assists in 29 games this season.
