Siena has fired manager Serse Cosmi one day after his team sustained a 4-1 defeat against Fiorentina on Sunday.

"Siena has dismissed coach Serse Cosmi," read a statement on the club's website. "The club would like to thank the coach and his staff for the work they have done in recent months with dedication and professionalism."

Siena fell behind 3-0 in the first half of Sunday's defeat, which is the club's third straight and leaves them rooted to the bottom of the league.

If not for a six-point deduction due to match fixing at the start of the season, Siena would be in 15th place based on its results this season.

But with the deduction Siena is four points from safety.

Former Sampdoria manager Giuseppe Iachini is expected to be announced as Cosmi's replacement.
