Rajon Rondo says he wants to stay with the Boston Celtics beyond this season.

The four-time All-Star point guard is entering the final season of his contract and has been a frequent subject of trade speculation.

But he said on the opening day of training camp Monday that he wants to remain with the rebuilding team.

President of basketball operations Danny Ainge says he's tried to sign Rondo to an extension. But he says it doesn't make financial sense for Rondo to agree because of the nature of the collective bargaining agreement.

Rondo was wearing a sling on his left arm after breaking a bone in his hand. He says he fell in the shower and Ainge says he has no reason to doubt him.
