Paris, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Edinson Cavani netted a hat trick as Paris Saint-Germain extended its lead atop the Ligue 1 table to six points on Friday with a comfortable 6-0 victory over Guingamp at the Parc des Princes.

Cavani, the Uruguay international, opened the scoring in the second minute and added two more goals in the 52nd and 70th minutes, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice and Maxwell also scored for the defending champions, who have won four straight in league play to keep their drive for another title alive.

PSG seized the lead almost immediately and Ibrahimovic doubled the lead after 18 minutes. Cavani then scored his second and Maxewll made it 4-0 in the 56th minute before Cavani finished his treble with 20 minutes to play.

Ibrhaimovic then converted a penalty kick in stoppage time as Guingamp had no answer for a rampant PSG attack and saw its modest two-match winning streak in league play come to an end.

The result leaves Guingamp in 10th place with 46 points.

Also in Ligue 1 this weekend, Lyon will hope to stay in the hunt for the title with three points against Caen on Saturday, while Bordeaux battles Nantes and Evian hosts Reims hoping to escape the bottom three with a win.
