The Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints will open the NFL's 2012 preseason in the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 5, the league announced Wednesday.

The Cardinals, who tied the New York Giants 21-21 in the inaugural Hall of Fame Game in 1962, will make their fourth appearance and first since 1986.

New Orleans is making its first appearance in the contest since 2007, when it lost 20-7 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Saints are 1-3 in Hall of Fame Games.

The game will follow the inductions of Jack Butler, Dermontti Dawson, Chris Doleman, Cortez Kennedy, Curtis Martin and Willie Roaf as the 2012 Hall of Fame Class.

Last year's Hall of Fame game, originally scheduled between the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams, was canceled due to the NFL lockout.
