St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Matt Garza left his start against the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday with a right thumb contusion.
Garza exited after walking Matt Carpenter to start the bottom of the fourth inning. Wei-Chung Wang replaced Garza and allowed four runs on six hits over three innings.
The Cardinals won the game by a 9-3 score.
Prior to the injury, Garza gave up five runs on five hits with four strikeouts and four walks. The right-hander fell to 1-3 with a 5.00 ERA this season.
The Brewers said Garza is day-to-day.
