The Atlanta Braves have placed oft-injured pitcher Brandon Beachy on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation and recalled outfielder Todd Cunningham from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Beachy, who underwent Tommy John surgery last year, made his return to the mound on July 29 and went 2-1 with a 4.50 earned run average over five starts, but noticed a dip in his velocity during Tuesday's start against the New York Mets.

Beachy is expected to visit Dr. James Andrews on Monday. Andrews performed the surgical procedure on the right-hander's pitching elbow 14 months ago.

The 24-year-old Cunningham made his major league debut with the Braves on July 30 and has registered two hits and two runs scored over six games.
