Blue Jays get Francisco from Phillies

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired outfielder handed pitcher Frank Gailey.

Francisco appeared in 100 games for the Phillies in 2011, posting a .244 batting average with six home runs and 34 runs batted in.

The 30-year-old veteran was with the Phillies since July of 2009 after being acquired from the Cleveland Indians along with left-handed pitcher Cliff Lee.

In parts of five seasons with the Indians and Phillies, the right-handed hitter has a .260 average with 45 home runs and 174 RBI in 460 games.

To make room on the 40-man roster, Toronto designated right-handed pitcher Jesse Chavez for assignment.

The 26-year-old Gailey has spent four seasons in the Blue Jays' system. The Philadelphia native split time between Single-A Dunedin and Double-A New Hampshire in 2011, posting a 5-6 record with a 3.41 earned run average in 45 relief appearances.
