Betis edges Mallorca to continue perfect start

Ruben Castro scored five minutes from time 0, on Sunday in La Liga to remain undefeated after two matches.

Betis joined Real Madrid and Valencia as the lone perfect teams after just two weeks. Betis has yet to allow a goal, as it won its opener 1-0 over Granada.

Castro reached Benat's corner kick late in normal time and sent a right-footed shot into the bottom-right corner for his second goal of the season.

Mallorca, which downed Espanyol 1-0 in its opener, lost its first match of the season.

Osasuna 2, Sporting Gijon 1

Navarra, Spain - Nino and Alvaro Cejudo scored two minutes part midway through the first half and Osasuna edged Sporting Gijon, 2-1, on Sunday in La Liga for its first win of the season.

Osasuna tied Atletico Madrid, 0-0, on the road on opening weekend and Nino put his side in front after 28 minutes against Gijon. Cejudo followed in the 30th, and the lead held as David Barral netted Gijon's lone goal in the 75th.

Gijon is winless after two matches.

Espanyol 2, Athletic Bilbao 1

Barcelona, Spain - Sergio Garcia scored twice, including the match-winner in the 72nd minute, as Espanyol won its first match in La Liga this season, 2-1 over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

Garcia opened the scoring in the 24th, but Fernando Llorente answered in the 62nd for Bilbao. Garcia completed his brace on 72 minutes to give Espanyol a full three points, and leave Bilbao winless after two matches.

Espanyol dropped its opener 1-0 at Mallorca, while Bilbao tied newly-promoted Rayo Vallecano 1-1 in its opener.

Rayo Vallecano 0, Real Zaragoza 0

Madrid, Spain - Rayo Vallecano remained unbeaten with a 0-0 draw against Real Zaragoza on Sunday in La Liga, giving the promoted side two points from two matches.

Rayo Vallecano tied Athletic Bilbao 1-1 on the road in its opener. Zaragoza is yet to score, after it lost its opener 6-0 to Real Madrid.

Racing 0, Levante 0

Santander, Spain - Levante tied Racing 0-0 on the road Sunday in La Liga to notch its second point of the season. Levante tied Getafe 1-1 in its opener.

Racing, which lost its opener 4-3 at Valencia, earned its first point.
