Munich, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayern Munich restored its position at the top of the Bundesliga table on Saturday thanks to a 4-1 defeat of Mainz at the Allianz Arena.

Mainz made it an uncomfortable start for the home side as Shawn Parker's goal in the 44th minute sent the visitors into the halftime break with a one-goal lead.

But the second belonged to Bayern as the reigning champions hit for four goals, three of which came in the span of 19 minutes.

Arjen Robben put the home side in front in the 50th minute while Thomas Muller notched the go-ahead goal just two minutes later.

Mario Mandzukic added a third in the 69th minute and Muller converted a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to tack on a late goal for good measure.

Bayern improves to 23 points to climb back in front of Bayer Leverkusen following its controversial defeat of Hoffenheim on Friday. Mainz has lost four of its last five to stay put on 10 points.

Borussia Dortmund kept pace with Bayern, staying within a point of the Bundesliga leaders thanks to a 1-0 defeat of Hannover on Saturday. Marco Reus produced the lone goal of the affair as his penalty kick in the fourth minute proved to be enough to claim maximum points.

Hertha Berlin climbed to fourth place in the table as a goal from Adrian Ramos gave the club a 1-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, while Schalke advanced to fifth place with a 3-2 defeat of lowly Braunschweig thanks to Roman Neustadter's stoppage-time winner.

Also on Saturday, Eintracht Frankfurt and Nurnberg split the points in a 1-1 draw while Werder Bremen and Freiburg played to a 0-0 stalemate.
