A's demote Ross, recall Miller

St. Petersburg, FL – The Oakland Athletics demoted pitcher Tyson Ross to Triple-A Sacramento after Thursday's spot start against Tampa Bay.

Ross, in place of the suspended Bartolo Colon, took the loss in a 5-0 setback after allowing five runs on nine hits in six innings. The right-hander fell to 2-9 with a 6.45 ERA in 13 starts for the Athletics this season.

Oakland recalled reliever Jim Miller from Sacramento on Friday. Miller made 24 appearances in two different stints with the Athletics earlier this season and has a record of 2-1 with a 2.16 ERA in 33 1/3 innings.
